This is an original watercolor on 300 lb. paper titled, Italy Hilltop. The scene depicts a picturesque town – possibly Montepulciano or Cortona, or a combination of the two. Regardless of locale, it’s a striking rendering of Italy’s medieval beauty and glorious Tuscan scenery. The painting showcases the artist’s lauded ability and technique in this medium. In a realistic style, it was most likely painted from a photograph that Jaqua himself would have taken while traveling abroad. The painting is signed by the artist on the lower righthand side of the paper.
